Hey I just bought my computer from someone and all that was supplied was the
power cord and the laptop its self, the person that sold it to me said he had
bought it from a library and that it had some restrictions on it and I am
attempting to take them off, but the only problem is I cannot log on as the
administrator. So I was wondering how to recover or reset the admin password
without reinstalling windows, also once I have done this, how do I make it so
that my computer does not reset the hard drive every time the computer is
shut down, and secondly how do I keep the computer from shuting down every
morning at 6:30 and every friday night? Any help would be great, thanks.

XP Home or XP Pro??

Try going into Safe Mode and see if they forgot to password protect the
inbuilt administrator logon - try a blank password.

If that does not work my suggestion would be to locate the drivers and do a
re-install.
