Password Complexity Requirement question

Could somebody tell me at what point users are effected by setting the
pasword complexity requirement in Group Policy - i.e. in a live network if I
enable this requirement will users become locked out? Will they be asked to
change their passwords next ime they log on or will they only have to change
when the password period has expired?

No. Your users will not be locked out.

No They will not be asked to change thier passwords immediately. But they will encounter one problem.
If you enable the password complexity policy and your users have simple passwords, when they are requested to change thier passwords it won't allow the password change. Reason being, thier current password is not complex enough to get pass the complex password filter. Solution.
Manually change the passwords for your users yourself to a complex password. Or have your users create complex password before you implement the policy.

The users will not become locked out when you enable password complexity.
The next time the users change their passwords they will be forced to enter
a password that meets the complexity requirements.
