Passowrd Protecting a Folder

Newsgroup

Is there anyway to password protect a folder?

I can deny other users right/access to a folder, but I can not password
protect a folder under my own user name or anyone else's.

Thanks.

WinXP's file security paradigm doesn't rely on, or allow, the
cumbersome method of password protection for individual applications,
files, or folders. Instead, it uses the superior method of explicitly
assigning file/folder permissions to individual users and/or groups.

Of course, if you have WinXP Pro, you can encrypt the desired
files/folders.

As a work-around, you can place the file in a compressed folder,
and set a password to uncompress the folder to view/access its
contents.

Thanks for the reply, I was also trying to find a way to
do this. It works great...but one question when I open
the file, it then is read only. Is there a way I can get
rid of read only so that I may work in that file?
