hey i wanna partition my hard drive on win xp does my
hard drive have to be clean or can i partition with
programs and such on it. and also how do u do it.

Windows doesnt include a non-destructive partitioner. You will need to
purchase a third party program like Partition Magic to do it without losing
data.

John, if you want to start over with a clean install of WinXP then you can
go here www.bootdisk.com and get one of their
super duper bootdisks with fdisk and format on it. fdisk allows you to
create and remove partitions. If you want to keep
your existing WinXP and programs you can get Partition Magic by Powerquest
and that will allow you to create partitions
without having to start over. But that's not free.

Fdisk allows you to work with Fat 16 or Fat 32 partitions.
For NTFS, you will have to use XP Disk Management.
