I have a new computer with windows xp is there a way of
partitoning a hard drive without formatting my drive

You need third party software - either Partition MAgic (at least vn 7,
preferably 8) or BootIT NG, from http://www.BootitNG.com ($35 shareware
- 30 day full functional trial)
