Partition troubles

I have aHitachi deskstar with 160Gigs of space. During
Windoes XP Pro installation, I set up a 50 Gig Partition.
After a few days, when I had everything running smoothly,
I attempted to use Dos based FDisk to turn the
unpartitioned 110 gigs of space into a drive. However,
FDisk changed my C: drive into a D: drive and upon
rebooting, Windows wouldn't start, I believe it
said "OperatingSystem missing" or something to that
effect. I've re-installed Windows on this new C: drive
(changed to 80gigs because of the 132gig limit since my
windows CD doesn't have the upgrades that allows it to see
more)What I want to know is: How do I change the D: drive
back to C: and get it to boot from there again? Disk
management says it can't modify the drive letter of a
sys\tem or boot volume. (D: is labeled system, C: is
labeled boot) Also, how do I set up partitions from
Windows?

Hi,

The easiest way would be to start all over again and delete all partitions
during XP setup.
You should not use DOS fdisk on an XP system except under exceptional
circumstances.
XP includes the ability to create and format partitions - see below.

To pass the current partition size limit on your C drive - if you want,
install Service Pack 1 and use the DISKPART /EXTEND command from a command
window - see Help on the start menu for further information.

Note: You can only extend a partition into free space that is contiguous
with the existing partition. Also note that it is a good idea to segragate
Data from System to make backups easier - all software on say C: drive and
all data on D: drive.

Also, how do I set up partitions from Windows?
