Partition trouble

I recently installed a full version of XP Home Edition on my computer. I
currently have two partitions on my computer designated C and J. The J
partition said it held necessary software to run the computer. However it is
only a couple of gigabytes large while the other is 118 g. When installing
the complete version of xp, I tried to install it on C but it said I couldnt.
I then installed it on J but I'm running out of room there. I still have
programs on C before the new installation, but I have to go to My Computer
and work through that to use them.
Question, can I merge the two partitions? Or do I have to remove J
completely and again reinstall the fresh xp os?
I know this may seem like a silly question to some, but I am what I am, and
know what I know...
Thanks in advance for any help!

sounds like when u reinstall on C: u may of said not to remove windows so
thats why xp didnt install when you should of remove other windows. You can
merge the paritions if you buy a partition program to do it (like parition
magic).

Or you can reinstall xp and in the options delete all the paritions and then
it will install it on one big one.

Please tell me you are using a disk that you got? A lot of computers use the
smaller parition to hold the back up im assuming you have taking the right
precauations in that area and made disk if not you would of lost your back
for windows.
