You need third party repartitioning software. It will allow you to shrink
the 27 GB and apply the free space to the 10 GB partition. Or you can
completely delete the 27 GB and give all the space to the 10GB. I am not
aware of good free third party tools that will enable you to do this though.
Acronis Disk Director is a retail program that works well for this

Another option is to use the 27GB. You can format it as NTFS. Then relocate
your My Documents directory by right clicking the My Documents icon and
selecting Properties->Target Tab->change the target location to the location
of the new drive letter. You can also have your Outlook Express "Store
Folder" located there by opening Outlook Express and
Tools->Options->Maintenance Tab->Store folder button. You can have other
applications that download or save files to save there as well.

You could use Cute Parition Manager which is free. http://www.cutepm.com/

You should be able to make better use of your existing partitions
without changing their size.

It is likely that an allocation of 12% has been made to System Restore
on your C partition which is over generous. I would reduce it to 700
mb. Right click your My Computer icon on the Desktop and select System
Restore. Place the cursor on your C drive select Settings but this
time find the slider and drag it to the left until it reads 700 mb and
exit. When you get to the Settings screen click on Apply and OK and
exit.

Another default setting on a large drive which could be wasteful is
that for temporary internet files especially if you do not store
offline copies on disk. The default allocation is 3% of drive.
Depending on your attitude to offline copies you could reduce this to
1% or 2%. In Internet Explorer select Tools, Internet Options,
General, Temporary Internet Files, Settings to make the change. At the
same time look at the number of days history is held.

The default allocation for the Recycle Bin is 10 % of drive. Change to
5%, which should be sufficient. In Windows Explorer place the cursor
on your Recycle Bin, right click and select Properties, Global and
move the slider from 10% to 5%. However, try to avoid letting it get
too full as if it is full and you delete a file by mistake it will
bypass the Recycle Bin and be gone for ever.

If your C drive is formatted as NTFS another potential gain arises
with your operating system on your C drive. In the Windows Directory
of your C partition you will have some Uninstall folders in your
Windows folder typically: $NtServicePackUninstall$ and
$NtUninstallKB282010$ etc. These files may be compressed or not
compressed. If compressed the text of the folder name appears in blue
characters. If not compressed you can compress them. Right click on
each folder and select Properties, General, Advanced and check the box
before Compress contents to save Disk Space. On the General Tab you
can see the amount gained by deducting the size on disk from the size.
Folder compression is only an option on a NTFS formatted drive /
partition.

Hope this helps.

BootIt NG is a stable program with excellent support. While it is free to
try you had better buy it or remove the partition you created with it before
the 30 days times out or you could well be locked out of your system.

Nope - you don't have to install it to the HDD to do partition work - it
runs directly off the floppy. And I'm running on partitions I created with
the trial some six months ago......and in fact the floppy is still working
as well, as you don't need a registration key to use it on a floppy.

So you are saying it isn't trialware but freeware providing you don't
install it?

They still call it a trial but if you never install it and run it from a
floppy there is nothing to expire.
I too am running on 2 HD's partitioned with Bootitng into 4 partitions each
using XP for the past year or more.
When I ran Vista RC2 I used bootitng to erase one partition and expanded
another for a Vista/XP dual boot.

Not sure that's what they intended, but that's how it works... ;-)

They likely intend to get it for free. Too bad it has to be posted that way
here :(
