partioning or removing Windows 2000 Pro from dual boot

I installed Win 2000 Pro on my system with Windows 98SE, and now it
apparently allows me a dual-boot. But I am thinking I did something wrong---I
don't know if the hard drive is partitioned or not. How can I find out
whether it is or not? I've never done it before. And if it isn't, what is my
remedy? Can Win 2000 Pro be removed without touching 98 in this case?

*** Launch "My Computer". It tells you clearly what you have,

*** Remedy for what?

*** Yes: Rename the Win2000 folder (probably called WinNT),
*** wait a week, then delete this folder if all is well.

So are u saying I can simply delete the folder WINNT and it will be removed
entirely? No other steps required?

Also, would it be easier to simply reformat somehow and just install 2000? i
am not wedded to 98, I just have both of them installed at the moment. I have
never worked with either partitions or dual boot (this was an accident on my
part) and I am not really sure how i would go about this...

Correct, but wait a few days to be on the safe side.

You can also modify the boot selector menu by typing
this command:

notepad c:\boot.ini

Change "Timeout=.." and the default operating system
to whatever you prefer.

It seems you really need to decide if you want to retain Win98
or Win2000. First you said you wanted to remove Win2000;
now you say you want to remove Win98 . . .

If you're happy with one of the two OSs, keep this one and
remove the other one. No need to re-install anything!

Well, my concern was that I only have a pre-installed version of 98, so if I
was to mess it up, that would be it. I do, however, have a full version of
2000. Right now, I am guessing there is no partition on my hard drive
separating the two (I read that they should be partitioned, but I don't know
about partitioning). Ultimately, it seems to make more sense to just go with
2000---but I want to make sure that I am not going to wreck anything. So, as
clear as possible, I hope, two questions:

1. Given that there is no partition now, what is the safest method for me to
make 2000 my only operating system?; or

2. If I keep the dual boot scenario, what do I need to do (or can I do) to
make sure it won't cause me problems, conflicts, etc.?

*** Installing two OSs on the same partition is not a particularly good
