Parallel/USB Converter for Epson Stylus 5000?

Im having issues with my printer/computer getting along. I just bought
a Gateway Notebook and already have an Epson Stylus Pro 5000 printer.
The Epson is a parallel connection but the Notebook doesnt have a
parallel port. I purchased a USB/Parallel adapter thinking it would
work, but after doing some web research found out that not all adapters
are compatible with all printers. Does anyone have a resource for an
adapter that works with Epsons? Or another idea of how I can get these
two to get along??? Any help is appreciated!

I would contact Epson, they used to supply one, which I assume worked
with their printers, at least one would hope it would...
