paragraphs in text boxes

I am unable to put more than one paragraph in a text
box. What I want is several paragrpahs so I can animate
them to appear one at a time.

I expected the enter key to give me a new paragraph and
shift enter to give me a new line in the same paragraph.

What I encounter is that both give me just a new line in
the same paragraph,

Also, I expected that powerpoint had the indicator option
(backwards P) that word has, but I don't see it.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Nick Payne the tenor? Long time no see. I was working the phones at 'GUC
t'other day when your matching grant was announced and had a nice
conversation with a lady who immediately phoned in as soon as she heard your
name.

And if you're not that Nick Payne ... um. Nevermind. ;-)

PowerPoint doesn't give you paragraph markers like Word does ... different
program, different intent, I suppose, though it would be useful to see them
at times.

But Enter does produce a new paragraph and Shift+Enter produces a line break
in PowerPoint as you expect. Apparently it's not doing what you *want* it
to do, though.

So back to basics - what do you need it to do and what's it doing instead?

And indeed I wondered if you were that same Steve
Rindsberg. I am still ternoring, when I am not
powerpointing. Comem to the Brahms' requiem this sunday

I am not getting a new paragrpah in my text box when I
enter. Evidence is that I cannot get separate bullet
points, nor can I animate my (non) paragraphs.

I have to new computers, both with XP pro, and I obsaerve
this non para making on both machines.

Alas (well not really alas, since I'm really looking forward to it) I'll be
in Tucson at PowerPoint Live by then. But knock 'em dead, eh?

I can't replicate this
Can you email me a small sample presentation (soon, as I'll be leaving
shortly)?
One or two slides, no graphics, just an example bit of text, email to steve

Remind me which version of PPT this is too.

Ah, but first, try this:
Select the text box (click anywhere in it, press ESC)
Choose Format, Bullets
Click Character
Choose a font that you're sure is on the computer and pick a bullet
character from that font.
OK your way back out.

Does that improve things?
