paragraph spacing problem

Dave Chappell

After I imported a couple of lines from a footnote into my text and adjusted
them for font and line spacing, it seems to have affected my paragraph
spacing. Now that paragraph and others that follow cannot be separated by
the enter key without creating three lines of space instead of the usual
double spacing, and if I try to get the usual double spacing, I have to cheat
by making it all into one paragraph and then using the space bar to push the
paragraphs apart, which often doesn't stay permanent and also moves around
when I do any revisions. I have tried selecting the whole document and
setting it for double spacing, but it doesn't have any effect. Can anyone
advise me, please? This is taking up precious time and energy from my work.
Sincerely, Dave Chappell

Sounds like you might have brought a paragraph mark along with the
text you wanted from the footnote. You don't say what version of Word
you're in, but you can control your line spacing, space after, etc.,
in the Format > Paragraph pane. Or just reapply your regular body
style (Normal?) to the affected paragraph. (Put the cursor in the
paragraph, don't select any of the text.)
