Paperport deluxe 6.1 won't react to deskscan.exe

I recently installed deskcan II 2.9 software for my flatbed Scanjet
5P. I then installed Paperport deluxe 6.1. When I use the twain
feature in paperport to scan in a document I get an error message that
it cannot find the deskscan.exe file. It tells me to look in the
Hpds23.ini file (which is in the windows directory on c drive) for
the correct path for the deskscan.exe. In the Hpds23.ini file,it
directs it where to look, with the command, "ExePath=D:\PROGRAM
FILES\DESKSCAN\DESKSCAN.EXE"
were the file is located. It seems like the computer is to fast or
somehow is looking past the command line in the Hpds23.ini file. My
question: Is there a command/character that I should insert into the
Hpds23.ini file to ensure that the computer will execute the
descan.exe file? Would I possibly need to relocate the deskscan.exe or
Hpds23.ini file to another location where it might be read/executed
by the computer?
