Hello,

There is a report in MDE file. If the user preview the report and change the
paper size from A4 to Legal, I want if he preview the same report in the
next time, the report will be displayed in Legal size. Is it possible to do
like that for MDE file ?
Thanks.

Not as far as I know of since the Page Set-up is saved in the design of the
Report and you cannot change the design in the MDE.

Let say I have a report which should be printed using legal size.
I want every time user preview the report, the report is already in legal
size.
How do I design the report ?
Sometimes I find the report follows the default paper size of the printer
properties.
Thx.

In the Report Design View, use the Menu File / Page Set-up ... and set your
printing requirements then save the Report. The Page settings will be saved
in the Report design.

I think a lot of advanced printers have different options that can decide to
use the default size as a replacement paper size if the requested paper size
is not available. In my case (default A4), I think I saw an option set on a
Canon laser printer / copier / fax machine to "Use A4 for Legal paper size"
....

I am sure that Access checks the default printer when the Report is opened
so it may pick up the options set on the printer also. Thus, I think it is
entirely possible that Access Report "follows" the printer's default paper
size.

You may need to check the Microsoft Knowledge Base to see if you can pick up
anything about printing. In Australia, we pretty much use A4 as the default
paper size.

I have a problem where the user can't change the margin bottom.
The first time the user preview the report, the margin bottom is 2.5 inch.
When I design the report, the margin bottom is 0.5 inch.
Then the user open Page Setup menu to change the margin bottom.
After he changed, then the margin go back to 2.5 inch.
Another problem, I use A4 portrait in design, but at user's PC, the report
is displayed in A4 landscape.
The user is running MDE file.
Can you help ?
Thx.

are you using Access2000 or newer? if so, when you created your database,
did you turn OFF the Name Autocorrect option? if not, suggest you create a
new blank database, immediately turn OFF Name Autocorrect (from the database
window's menu bar, go to Tools | Options | General tab). compact the
database, then import all objects from your "master" database file,
remembering to set any Startup options, since those don't transfer from one
database to another, and link the tables from your backend database. then
compact the database again. now when you set report margins, they should
"stay put". convert the "new" master file to MDE format, and give the new
MDE to your user.
