I have two internal hard drives. My os and data are on one, and backups
are on the second one. I have a paging file on the first hd. Do I
need a paging file on the second hd?
It is not necessary, but it may be advisable if you are actually using
the paging file to any significant extent.
With paging files on each physical hard drive Windows will use
whichever one is the most efficient for each specific paging
operation. That can provide a performance boost as it can reduce the
amount of drive head repositioning (the slowest part of any hard drive
activity) that is needed.
