Pages look like the run together with no break in between

Pages look like the run together with no break in between. When you double
click the thick black line tht "divides" the page the space between the pages
returns. Does anyone know what causes this?

This is a view setting, go to Tools | Options | View Tab and check White
Space between Pages to see the space

I found that out too! I just want to know what causes it to change - a user
asked me and I have no idea!
