PageFile issue

Hi,
Recently, whenever I logon to Windows-XP, I get a
message saying "Your system has no paging file or the
paging file size is too small. Go to Control Panel--
System,under 'Advanced', under 'Performance',
Click 'Settings', and give an initial and final maximum
paging file size".But I've tried this and many more
methods, but nothing seems to solve the problem. And I'm
a 'normal' user, that is, I don't use a lot of resource-
thirsty programs(No 3-D games,nothing of that sort).Also,
I think even such programs won't need a paging file more
than 1GB(I once gave the size as 1GB, and Windows
said 'the Paging file is too small').
And to make matters worse, even this message doesn't
appear always.Sometimes, the screen stands still with the
message 'Executing wlnotify.dll...'(I changed the Setting
in Group Policy to show 'Verbal startup and
Shutdown').Then I found it continues further if I
press 'Ctrl+Alt+Del'. I tried leaving the 'Do not requir
Ctrl-Alt-Del' as 'Not Configured', and then I
tried 'Enabling' it, but both had precisely the same
effect - the problem remained unsolved.
Now, more recently, 'System Restore' too has stopped
working 'automatically' i.e installations and
uninstallations do not produce checkpoints.Manually
created checkpoints are automatically deleted when the
computer starts the next time.
Sorry the message had to be so long! And finally,
don't think this is some virus - I updated my AVG just
yesterday, and it found no virus.
