Page set up on Word incorrect

I have tried to reset the defaults on the page setup in Word. I am running XP
Pro. Although the page prints out correctly, I am not able to view the entire
page; the top of the page is off completely, and I am not able go beyond what
is in front of me. Changing the view setting, margins, page set-up, etc.
hasn't worked. I need to get back to the default somehow, but Word won't
allow it.

Try renaming the Normal.dot template.

Re-create the Normal.dot Template
To do this, follow these steps:

1.Click Start, and then click Search.
2.In the left pane, click All files and folders.
3.In the Named box, type normal.dot, and then click OK.
4.When the search process is complete, right-click Normal.dot, and then
click Rename.
5.In the box that appears, type Normal.old, and then press ENTER.

Repeat steps 4 through 5 to rename each file named Normal.dot in the search
results list as Normal.old.
6.Start Word.

This creates a new Normal.dot template.

BTW, there is a separate newsgroup for Word/Office problems. The entire list
of Microsoft Public Newsgroups is available in the following page:

Find and delete the file "normal.dot", word will then recreate it with
default settings

I did look at that after reading another post about templates. The file only
says Normal, not normal.dot, so I wasn't sure.

The file does not show the .dot extension because you have turned off the "show file extensions"
option.
Just delete the "normal" file and Word will make a new one for you.

When I went back to try this again the normal file, doc, word thing, was
missing. My settings are still a mess.

If Word starts, Normal.doc should be there - must be in another
location - maybe the one you deleted was from an older version or
something.

Search all your c drive for other copies.

Removing normal.dot did not work. I still cannot see the entire document
unless I view the print preview. Anything else to try? Need any further info?
