I have followed every instruction I can find regarding setting the page
number to begin on the 2nd page. I now have a PowerPoint with a "0" showing
on the title page.

For Powerpoint 2003:
- File / Page Setup / Number slides from 0
- View / Header and Footer
- mark "Slide number"
- mark "Don't show on title slide"

Now you don't get a number on the first slide and the second slide begins
with 1.

Lynn,
So you set the page numbers to start with 0 in the page setup dialog?
Do you have a title master? If not, create one, View - Master - Insert Title
master (second button from the left on the Master toolbar). On the title
master, delete the numbering placeholder. That should do it. Your first
(title slide will have no number visible) your second slide will have number
1.
If you do not want to create a title master, just go to View - headers and
footers - put a check next to do not show on title slide at the bottom of
the Header and footer dialogue. Which should give the same result.

Thanks to both responses. I had already attempted both suggestions, hence
the post for help.

I did, however, come up with a solution which was to remove the footer from
the Master slides and past the page number individually on each slide AFTER
the title slide, which was created at the initiation of the presentation.
Starting with zero and clicking on "do not show on Title page" didn't work,
but thanks for your input!

Why not put a patch - a small rectangle - with the same colour as the
background on the number in the titel slide.
