I need to print page numbers on the outside footer of each page for a bound
document. How do I accomplish that?
Thanks in advance to all who respond.

In versions of Word before 2007, go to File > Page Setup > Layout and check
the box for "Different odd and even".

You must have at least two pages in your document for the next step, so
insert a temporary page break (Ctrl+Enter) at the end of page 1 if
necessary.

Open the footer area on an odd page (e.g., page 1), press the Tab key twice
to move to the right margin, and click the # button on the Header/Footer
toolbar. Then click the Next button on the Header/Footer toolbar to go to
the even page footer, and with the cursor at the left margin, click the #
button.

Word 2007 has a Header/Footer button in the Insert ribbon, and you can
choose the proper footer from the gallery that button opens.
