page numbering problem

I have a 40 page technical document that paginates fine until page 33; then
the numbers jump to back to 17 and continue on with 18, etc. There are
several section breaks that change format from portrait to landscape and back
again. Pagination is fine through all these different sections. There is a
section break to change from landscape to portrait on the previous page (page
33). I have tried changing the footer on the first incorrectly numbered page
to not copy the footer from the previous section, deleted and reinserted page
numbers using the footer toolbar page button AND tried by using "insert page
numbers". In both cases the page numbering reverts to 17 instead of 34. Any
clues on what's wrong here? My last option is to manually insert page
numbers to the end of the document outside of a footer.

View | Header and Footer in one of the sections that has incorrect
numbering. On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Format Page Number.
Change from "Start at" to "Continue from previous section." Repeat as
needed.

Thanks Suzanne, that did the trick. I'm not quite sure how the pagination
got restarted in the first place but you never know when you inherit a
document from elsewhere.
