PAGE NUMBER WON'T CHANGE

In the footer I have added a page numbering to a two-page document but page 2
shows "1" instead of "2". What am I doing wrong.
 
Did you use "Insert Page Number" from the Header/Footer toolbar/tab,
or did you simply type "1" where you wanted the page number to go?
