Page # highlighted

I have a new document with 3 sections defined; each containing information
about the document on the left side if the footer and the Page # on the
right. I created the page # using the option in the footer.

When I work with the document, the actual page # is displayed in gray color
that I have not defined using highlight or any other method but clicing
within the footer, the information is okay. This has also changed in all
other Word 2002 documents I have.

This makes it impossible to see the page number. Any help will be greatly
appriciated.

Tools | Options | View: Field codes; change to "Never" or "When selected."
