Hi

Every time windows xp start I get a message on the lines 'Page file is too
small or it does not exist. Go into control panel, system and set values for
the page file'. I have gone and set the page file limits (900-1300 MB, disk
has 12 GB free), but the page file is never created in the root folder and I
get the same message the next time win xp starts.

What is wrong here and what should I do to fix it?

Thanks

Regards

there's a small block on that screen that you have to CLICK to activate the
pagefile...look over that screen good....

did you click the SET button.
by the way a system managed file seems ot work best instead of a fixed size.

When you adjust the file you must always click the Set button alongside,
before moving on (say to a different drive). Also if you have the main
file on a drive other than C: (only a good idea if it is a different
physical drive) you should retain a notional amount on C: or the system
may sulk and either have none at all or an enormous one on C:

The initial 900 is probably wasteful - read up on Virtual memory and
especially the 'what size page file' section at
www.aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm
