Have received "page fault in non-paged area" blue screen
error. What causes this? Have changed paging file; left
on C: (600-1180) and added D: (600-1180); both are 40GB
drives. Did a chkdsk w/repair two days ago and thought
that fixed it but apparently not. What gives?

Thanks for help.

Hi Nikki,

- Defective or mimatched ram
- Conflicting software (especially antivirus software)
- Device driver (either needs updating or is in conflict)

How you fix it depends on when it started and what recent changes or
installations you may have made.

Thanks for replying. I've come to the conclusion (I
think) it's conflicting software; have a couple of
programs on where I've left on the old and installed the
new to another directory. Will uninstall old and see if
that doesn't fix problem. This wasn't happening before
then. My Norton 2004 is up-to-date with program/virus
defs so I don't think it's that either. Aumha.org is
excellent source of info and I refer to it often. Also
did another chkdsk w/repair and it supposedly found and
fixed errors; also defragged both drives. We'll see what
happens now. It's very disconcerting, tho, to be doing
something and all of a sudden you get a blue screen and
it's dumping memory--arghhh!
