page can't be displayed error

I have been getting the page can not be displayed errror
after about 20 minutes of walking away from my computer.
The dsl is still connected but it seems to lock up. A
simple restart fixes the problem but it's a pain.

I had the same problem the entire time I had dsl. I had numerous talks with telephone techs, and they sent three techs to my house to try to fix it, but none of them could fix it; the last one told me he thinks it is a virus in the computer. Well, I terminated the dsl and got cable. Now the cable is doing exactly the same thing. Maybe it is some kind of virus. I have AVG virus program, and their technical guys are very cooperative, and went over everything on my computer and couldn't find anything. The reason the tech thought it is a virus is that the activity light goes all the time, even when I'm not on the internet. He gave me a new modem and changed all lthe filters, but it didn't change anything. I will watch your post and see whether you get any answers that would help me. Good luck!!

I went there and checked out everythig, but nothing covers this problem. Sorry for piggybacking on somebody else's post, but I posted it myself and didn't get any answers. One of the techs said the activity light working all the time indicated something else is working in my computer, and when the buffer (whatever that is) gets full, the IP goes down. Does that make any sense?

OK, let's start with scanning with a current antivirus program (meaning
a version not later than 2002 and using updated virus definitions).
Also, remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from
www.security.kolla.de and Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to
update these programs before running them. It is best to run antivirus
and spyware removal tools in Safe Mode. Run Disk Cleanup and get rid of
temporary and Temporary Internet Files. Now that the computer is clean,
does the problem persist? If yes, then please post back, including what
you've done to troubleshoot so far.
