I cannot access a site I visit on a daily basis. I now get the message "pPage
cannot be displayed..." It is the only site on the web I can't access. I can
also get to this site from numerous other computers. It is only on my own
computer that I get this message. I visited the site daily for 3 years and
just today I cannot! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is the only page on the "entire" web I cannot access. Is there something
added to a file on my computer that is preventing me from viewing? Even if I
go to another site which has a link back to http://smartasses.org, I still
cannot access the site. It must be added to a url block list somewhere opn my
comp. Any help would be appreciated.

What diagnosis have you done which leads you to such a claim?

Hint: a simple telnet 80 with just GET / gets:

<example>
<h3 align="left">You need to have an HTTP/1.1 compliant web browser to view this page.</h3>
</example>

So, are you allowing HTTP 1.1 protocol?

And if you can't reproduce that diagnostic then your problem is obviously
not with IE but with your DNS or your link.

Here is a link to a troubleshooter which would focus on those areas.
It includes a link to an XP networking newsgroup for followup questions.

Search for it in the registry then. If it is there you'll find it.

Why not think laterally? Install a different browser. Firefox is good. Use
it for that site, use IE for your other sites if wanted.

In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC <=this
folder | right-click on a file in it named HOSTS (no extension; not Lmhosts)
| Open with Notepad | If there's a line/entry for smartasses.org, Delete
that line (Don't leave a blank space) | OK your way out | Reboot.

Any better?

When I went through this with microsoft i was told to delete the Hosts file,
but it didn't cure the problem. I still have the problem. It can't be a
corrupt cookie as I've deleted evey cookie I can find, as well as, all 5
index.dat files.
