Page Background Fill in Print Layout View? Word 2002

Using Word 2002

I would like to have a repeating background in my Word document ie. I
have a 100 pixel tall graphic that I'd like to have repeat down the
page as a background for the text on the page.

I was able to get the effect I want by using Format-> Background ->
Fill Effects -> Picture. I get the look I want. However, it only shows
up with the background in Web Layout view, not in Print Layout.

Is there any way to get this look in Print Layout? I would settle for
creating a fixed graphic as many pixels tall as I need and using that,
but it has to be a backdrop for the whole page.

Thanks,

What you want is what Word calls a "Watermark." I don't know whether
the feature existed per se in Word2002, but it's simply a graphic
anchored to the header of the page. (If you have Different First Page
and/or Different Left and Right Pages, then you'll need to place the
graphic in the two or three headers individually.)

I believe Format | Background | Printed Watermark was introduced in Word
2002.

Yes, it's there. Unfortunately it washes out the watermark, even
without choosing "washout" (and it doesn't tile, although I can fix
that by creating a large graphic to exact size). So, the web view
seems like the best option.

Insert the watermark using the dialog. Then View | Header and Footer, click
on the graphic and format it as desired. Or you can create it from scratch
as a graphic anchored to the header.
