I received the above attachment in an email purported to be from Microsoft. I
have concerns that it is genuine. Can someone please advise.

Your concerns are valid. Microsoft does not send out patches via e-mail. And
if you didn't sign up for security bulletins, they won't email you at all.
The attachment you got is likely a virus - delete the message entirely - and
make sure you are running good antivirus software (of recent vintage, as
regards version) and that it's kept up to date automatically.

Never open attachments you aren't specifically expecting, even if they look
like they came from your Aunt Gladys.
