P4R800-VM Integrated Ethernet yellow exclamation

Still having the problem below. I followed MrGreg's advice and tried the
ATI driver, but still no joy. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Just setting up a P4R800-VM with P4 2.6 and 2xCorsair 256DDR matched. I
cannot get the 3Com 3C920B-EMB-WNM Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller
Driver to install. I get a Code 10 which indicates the wrong driver. I
have tried the latest 3C920 from Asus' site and even the 90vx54 from 3Com's
site. Still getting a yellow exclamation mark and a Code 10.
Any ideas?

Thanks
Geoff

Any pci cards installed? Might be an IRQ conflict.
The driver version in my device manager shows as being from 3Com file
version 4.35.00.0000

I beleave this is the default driver installed with the chipset drivers.
Windows XP I presume?

Just to clarify, the built in LAN is not functioning.

This is the *same* problem I have/had. I installed an Intel Pro 100 pci
nic and magicly the built in lan also started working.
For a few days. Then it stopped again. :-(

My reseller did not have a replacement MoBo in stock, so I have been
living with the Pro100 since, and hoping for a updated driver from ASUS.

If you are running XP, check you BIOS setting for PnP OS and answer YES.
This is a setting I normally leave at no, but it was the suggestion from
the Reseller, and would help with most PCI caused IRQ conflicts.

Any devices, if they support it, enable Advanced IRQ, that allows them
to use non-legacy IRQ's and XP supports these. Sorry I forget the
'correct' name of these but it is Axxxxx

Good Luck.

MrGreg

Can I ask which BIOS version you are using?
The non-working driver I have installed is 3Com el90Xbc5.sys version
4.35.00.0000 which is WHQL certified, so it should work ........
I removed my TV tuner card which didn't make any difference. Next I'll
remove the Realtek network card and try again (although I didn't have it
installed when I first started all this).

Keep them ideas coming in PLEASE!!

I just installed the beta bios version 1003.002 the other night.
Only change I can see is that there is now an option to turn hyperthreading
off.
I was hoping for some overclocking options.

I'll keep trying to think of something.
Mine works fine so it's hard to troubleshoot a nonexistant problem ;)
