Hi to everyone,

I've installed a second SATA drive on my P4P800 box to enable RAID 1.
I already flashed the BIOS to 1016 without problems.

When I tried to install Intel Application Accelerator Raid Edition (IAAR),
latest version 3.5.3 downloaded directly from Intel, the setup program said
my chipset was not supported. It wanted an 82801ER while my device manager
showed an 82801EB. Knowing it's the same beast without RAID BIOS enabled, I
enabled SATA RAID in BIOS, but this way Windows 2000, shortly afert boot,
displayed the blue screen of death saying it can't read from boot device.

It seems a dog biting its tail: I need RAID enabled in BIOS to install IAAR,
but whit RAID enabled BIOS Windows does not start anymore. Seems like the
only way to get SATA RAID on P4P800 is to enable it before installing the
OS.

Anybody in here successfully upgraded to SATA RAID after installing the OS?

Kind regards,
Corrado

Did you try the IAAR download from Asus site?
I had no problem, using AMD Asus mb, enabling / configuring raid after
install of o/s

Locate the driver only install and bung that in while the system is running.

This should fix you bsod problem.

You may need to use the asus drivers for this as I did something like this
recently and the intel install which included the drivers is rather stupid.

Check your bios and make sure it is not 'old' as there have been raid bios
updates along the way. If you use the matching asus drivers (which may not
be the latest) they will at least work with the bios.

Just a thought - have you changed the boot order in Bios, and/or
changed drive numbers? I don't see why it should have to boot to that
drive, unless it's in the bios as the boot drive. This may happen,
since a SATA drive is listed above the IDE drives. First enable it,
then set the boot drive. Then reboot, hope this helps.
