P4P800 RAID 0 Question

Randy

P4P800 (not E or Deluxe) 865PE chipset
P4 2.4 gig
2 - 120 gig Maxtor 6Y120M0 SATA drives
1 gig DDR 400 Ram
WinXp SP2

Device Manager reports 2 Inel 82801EB Ultra Storage Controllers.

Intel RAID drivers provided on ASUS CD or also downloaded from Intel want
82801ER (ER instead of EB) and say incompatible hardware when I run the exe
into my present operating sys. I have made a floppy with the RAID drivers.

Will I be able to format my drives, set both to Master and install Winxp
(RAID 0 array) with the F6 RAID floppy I have?

Is there anything else I need to know and where is there a site that
explains setting up RAID 0 for newbies?

Thank You!

There are two Southbridge chip types - the ICH5 and ICH5R. The ICH5R
has RAID capability and I think your board has one of those. The
second ingredient, is a BIOS setting. In the "IDE Configuration"
section, you'll see "Configure S-ATA as RAID". The enumeration might
change when that is enabled.
