P4C800-E Boot Up Problems

Hi All,

about once a week or so, my P4C800-E (BIOS 1014) forgets which disk it
should be booting from. So I have to go into the BIOS and reselect the boot
sequence. Also when I do this, the video display is very 'noisey' until it
gets into windows.

Does anyone else have this problem

Disks On Machine
==============

2 SATA on Intel. First one is the 'boot' disk

1 IDE - ata disk

2 IDE - dvd's

1 external USB disk

It keeps setting the IDE hard drive as the boot disk...

- does anyone else have this problem

Yes i have the same problem !!
The 1014 bios sucks.
And not only with the P4C800E, but also with the P4P800 & P4C800 ( normal
and deluxe )
I have posted this problem several times and sent a email to Asus, but still
no answer.
And all the answers over bad cables or drives and jumpersetting are
bullshit.
It is the bios !!
Go back to 1012 and your problems are gone, but your USB-beeps are back.

Had the same problem myself.
As it turns out it didn't like me setting up my only harddrive as
MASTER and no slave installed.
When i installed a second IDE hard drive with the SLAVE jumper the
problem went away.

oops I forgot, I also have an IDE ZIP drive in there.

The ide hard drive and the ide zip drive are on the same controller

I think the hd is the master - but I'm not sure. I only use it as a
backup drive anyway, I never run any applications from it. It was just
thrown in 'cos I had it, maybe next time I open the case I'll remove it and
see if it makes any difference.
