I also buy CD´s from time to time, but not bez of the good and legitime
action. No, it sounds better. Nobody can record (copy) a CD with a
satisfying sound. Even copied with a real cd-recorder it does not
satisfy me, though it is many times better than with a PC and a
data-burner. CD-R and CD-RW are made for data, not for music.
MP3 i don´t want to mention at all, it´s not a copy anymore, it is a
sample which is sounding everytime ruthlessly the same playing it
back.... pfui Hearing a number some times again I can exactly say
this is this MP3-CD
The sound-quality is not a technical meaning at all (like - DVD sound
better than a cd bez it has frequencies above 20000Hz). Music is played
from 14 to 7000HZ and most important is the timing, making your knees
and feets shaking, or so
. And there is only (digital) the CD which
have a satisfying timing (The pits on the CD are not representing 1 and
0 data, thats the data CD).
So many innovations are made in the IT, but music (technically) quality
is getting weaker, not better.
The same goes with compressed Video...... even the DVD cannot compare
to me when I get an analog picture from a high-tec TV-Broadcaster,
using a BetaCAM or U-Matic Tape. I remember the film "C'era una volta
il west", one of my favourite broadcaster played some weeks ago. The
Hat from Charles Bronson came out from my TV-Set that I thought I could
take it out from the picture. With digital I cannot see such
analog-effects anymore....
Well, like I have dicussed in an other NG, it is possible with digital,
too. But you have the use the best and most expensive equipment you can
find. I have got this picture quality (PAL - 1958) without any
peripherals, just connecting a wire (cames out from the wall) to the
TV-Set. Not a 200W digital reciever, not a 500W Plasma, no no.... I
consumed a tenth of the power. Well, plasma is really comparebale if
not better for other (also this deep-picture effect, but not as deep as
tubed TV-sets), but just for three years ;-), My TV machine lasts 10 to
20 Years....
consuming in twenty years the same energy as the plasma in three
if i don't need them :/
without p2p, newspapers, the PC business would be far less
flourishing...

Honestly, I have two music titles I have copied from the Internet many
years ago. I have found it with a standard web search on a ftp-site.
I do not care about people having tons of copied music. But I get
annoyed when I hear that the quality is so good. The Video and Audio
quality on a PC is heavenly shit. MS-DOS games with GM-Sound, that was
sound quality, with timing etc.. etc... etc...
The things are getting more practical (digital), more handy (ipot), but
the Audio or Video-Quality as such, no.
