Firedaemon

I have a computer I use for WinMx P2P software.

I am getting an error that firedaemon has had a problem and needs to
close. What is firedaemon? I don't remember installing it or I can't
find a place to uninstall it.

I read from the groups that you could install it and then uninstall it
to fix the error.

I I can't access any network drives or the Internet from that machine.
I can however VNC to the machine which tells me that the network
connection is good.

Here comes the strange part. I installed firedaemon that I got from
it's web site. I could access the Internet with the program installed.
I uninstalled the program and I can't access the Internet anymore.

Can someone enlighten me on what could be going on please?
