OT - WinMX Fix

Heather

Art had told me the site was down, so I went to the WinMX news group and
lurked for a bit and found that there is a second patch (*.dll) that now
allows it to connect (and block out a certain agency, lol).

If anyone is interested, go to http://www.winmxworld.com/, which will direct
you to the patch. It only works on XP btw. They are working on one for
other O/S's.

Just download it and put it in the WinMX folder.....instructions on the
website. But it works!! Not many people back on there as of yet. I rarely
d/l mp3's any more, but this is the best P2P in my opinion. All in what you
are used to, I suppose.

Cheers, Heather

An easier way, which I posted a week ago, click on the link below. It works
great and only takes a few seconds to do.

I tried that Host fix, Trish and it didn't work quite as well as the other
one. Mind you, there are not all that many people back using it yet.

Yes, it works well. Thanks.

One point to note though. I had previously installed the hosts fix and
although I had hashed out the winmx lines (from hosts), the patched
program still reported that the hosts fix was installed and asked if I
wanted to revert to the original. This "original" actually means a one
liner for localhost, not the hosts file without the winmx lines so if
there's anything in hosts that you want, it's better to do this bit
manually.
