Thinking of getting one for the small amount of travel i do in London.
But how does the card know if your going 1 stop or 10?
As going on the Croydon Tram they dont have ticket collectors??

I'm in a similar position. I don't use public transport that often but friends tell me an Oyster card is the business.

But I just don't understand how it works

The tram starts at Beckenham, right opposite where my one time schoolfriend and ex-brother-in-law has a property.

He don't live there and it has gold taps.

He always did have more money than sense. And no taste

Oops, off topic :o

Ticket collectors will be rare my old mucker.

The answer to your question is a swiping machine. Touch in touch out
that's how they will work out your journey pattern.

If you don't swipe out they will charge you a maximum fare. I never used to swipe out but back then they didn't charge the full fare for this.

Public transport in London is a rip off, but the Oyster card is the cheapest way to go.
