Ownership of Computer

I am selling my current WIN XP Home machine and I see the in the sysyem
properties section of the "My Computer" that my name is shown there with the
oem number assigned to my edition of WIN XP Home. Is there a way to change
this to the new owners name that buys my machine?
Hence: right click "my computer" select "properties" see the name as
registered user. and...I have never registered this cop. Just activated it.

Quite frankly the best thing to do is to completely and securely wipe
the hard drive(s) and reinstall the operating system or have the new
owner reinstall it himself, being that you are selling the computer with
the operating system you will be giving the installation discs to the
new owner so he or she can install it to their liking.

Thank You. I thought that as much. Just was wondering if there was another
way within the system. I just reformatted this hard drive on 22 April 2008.
Don't want to go through a hassel with MS.

Start > Run > type "regedit" (without the quotes) search for
"registeredowner" (again, without the quotes) double click the entry it
finds and modify to your liking.

The only quick way to check the registered own name is to access Regedit and
search for each occurrence of your "entered" name and change it manually.

Be aware that changing the registered name will not change the User Accounts, nor the name of User's
folders. For that your have to create a new User and take ownership of the old user's files.
Also, if you do a registry search for your old name, you are going to find a lot of locations to be
changed. The best bet is still to reformat and reinstall with the new owners name.
