overusage of hard disk when screen goes off

hi, when i leave my pc open and the screen goes off and after a few minutes,
i see the hard disk that is always in use, the led that indicates the usage
is always on and the heat is increasing...
what am i doing wrong? i tried to disable indexing options (meaning that i
deleted every folder in indexing options in control panel) and also i changed
the advanced power settings in indexing and searching which i let it in
"power saver"

Defrag I reckon.

well, i let it all night open and it stopped but until then, the heat was
increased and only after it stopped was cold again

@Conor, you recommend doing a defrag?
