Oversized Access Table

Hi all
I have a table which I have tried in both 2000 and 2002 format using Access
10.6501.6735(SP3). It has 155 fields and will not accept another. When I
press Help on the error message it says I have exceeded 255 fields which is
patently not so
Can any one offer comment on this phenomemon

It sounds like it is smarter than you are. 155 fields sounds very much
like a poorly designed table. It is rare that a relational database like
Access will have more than 30 or 40 fields in any one table. Anytime you
have repeated fields for things like the names of children for a person, you
have a poorly designed table. Access will work better by normalizing your
table.

BTW, I have never tried it, but I suspect that if you do a repair and
compact (look under tools) it will really delete those 100 fields that you
have added and thought you deleted so you can add more. But please if this
work consider redesigning your table(s)
