Overlapping text when printing

I am using PP 2002. When I print a slide (of 12pt text) the text overlaps on top of itself but on the screen it appears fine. I have the same problem whether I use Arial Narrow or Arial (haven't tried any other fonts). I am printing to a new Lanier color printer so TT fonts should be supported. It seems to get a little better when I make the text box bigger but I am not at the limits of how big I can make the text bo
Why is the text overlapping? Is it a TT issue or a printer issue and how do I fix it

Thanks
