Overheating

Recently my computer cpu has been overheating, and the fans inside keep going
really loud, very irritating. My computer has also been making small freezes,
lasting about 10 seconds. Are these related? and how do you stop them?

The probable reason for noisy fans is defective bearings. Either replace
them yourself or get a repair shop to do it for you, and do it at your
earliest convenience..

it's not that, its that the CPU is overheating. it gets really hot, and I
took the cover off to keep it better. Then I learned that that also wrecks
it. The fans just get fast, not making odd noises

If the CPU is overheating, it will cause the freezes you are seeing.
I would check to be sure the heatsink is clean and properly placed.
A dirty, undersized or underspeed fan can cause overheating as well.
If the heatsink has been moved, removed or replaced, you may need to apply
new thermal paste.
Some OEM heatsinks are not adaquete, if overheating continues after
cleaning/reseating the heat sink, you may want to get a new/better one.
If any part of this makes no sense, call a geek to help!

Then remove the fan from the heatsink, clean out the heatsink blades, and
then fit the fan back down to the heatsink..

Yes, it's heat.

Find the things preventing proper cooling and remove them.

If the CPU is overheating and hanging, shut down immediately and fix the
problem. Otherwise, you'll be replacing the processor. You can't fix
burned silicon.

A common problem is dust collecting in the heat sink fins. Do not use a
vaccuum to clear this, use cans of compressed air.

Clean it. If you are comfortable opening the case, clean the filters and the
heatsinks (esp. the CPU), and clean the fans and fan grills. Watch out for
static while the case is open, and remember that cables are easy to dislodge.

On this PC, cleaning reduces the CPU temp by 8-9°C, and also reduces the CPU fan
speed enough to be noticeably less noisy.

If a specific fan is noisy, then (as Mike said) replace it. You can test by
sticking your finger on the middle of a fan for a second or two; just enough
to briefly stop the fan.
