outlook2003 / xp pro / corruct incoming mail

hello, I have a new desktop running xp pro / office 2003 / outlook 2003.I
have Mcafee security suite plus a pe-installed Mcafee suite.I have set-up and
re-populated my folders, accounts,etc from old outlook via .pst files.My old
mailAND all new mail comes with 'broken links' / no images (i.e incomplete
mail)Text is OK and send/recieve works fine.Tried everything including
disabling all security (temporarily!).Ni change. The drop-down in
outlook/open mail/format is 'greyed-out' and I cannot think of how this has
happened.Any thoughts would be gratefully received.Many thanks to you

Hi DL, thnaks or the response.....what I mean about Mcafee is that I
installed the security suite that I purchased last year, but then discivered
that a trial version of Mcafee security suite was pre-installed.I have
disabled both but I have a pre-installed windows firewall running.
I re-populated by 'importing from another file' which was a bunch of pst
files exported from my old PC, running OL2000 onto a memory stick and CD (for
backup).
Also, there may be an issue with DLL / MAPI elements, as an engineer came to
have a look and was, frankly, useless.During his visit there was a brief
message that included these.I do not have a record of the error message.

I think the first thing you should do is uninstall both McAfee products, if
you can.
You may also want to check McAfee site to see if they have a tool to
completely remove these apps, or any remnents.
Installing two AV apps causes conflicts and problems.
I believe you would be advised to ensure both AV suites are completely
removed before you do anything with OL.

Once all removed, do a repair of your Office installation
Then:-
Regarding the pst's using Import / Export is not a good method to use.
With OL *closed* simply copy pst's to your stick.
Copy from your stick to new PC - do NOT overwrite any existing pst.
At this point you might be advised to create a new profile, using Mail
Applet in the control panel.
Create and test your mail accounts, Add the pst(s) required

Open OL and check
PS security features may prevent you seeing pics, within mail. There should
be a 'bar' within the mail that states 'OL has disabled...to see....click
here'
Typically seen in the type of mail sent by eg Amazon in a sales pitch

Hi DL once again,many thanks for your support and apologies for the slow
response time.
Tried all you suggested.
Mcafee uninstalled
Files backed-up to stick
New profile set-up
New accounts set-up within new profile
..pst files imported back into new profiled OL
NO CHANGE
I do not see the alert bar you mentioned and the option to check HTML/plain
text mail is still greyed out.
This problem aslo happens if I run my mail in OE6
Maybe I should cut mt losses and back-up everything and restore PC to
factory settings........seems a shame to go that route, what do you think?
