Outlook2003 does not download emails with unknown sender

When it reaches an email with unknown sender on my POP server, it stops
downloading emails with an error, and since i have scheduled it to download
emails every 5 minutes, it will go ahead and download the same set of emails
until it reaches the unknown sender email again and then stops again !!!

This has the effect of me receiving the same set of emails many many times
depending on how often i return to my computer.

Outlook XP did not have this problem, has anyone else encountered this issue
and is there a work around?

Does this still happen when you disable the incoming mail scanner of your
virusscanner/anti-spam solution?
