Outlook2000 - inbox deletes msgs after 7 days

All of a sudden my email from the inbox "disappears" after exactly 7 days, I
just noticed it today, after wondering what happened last week when i lost
some messages.

I have not knowingly changed any settings, and I am desperate to get my
emails (I can only retrieve a few from the server).
 
You probably changed your view of the Inbox folder to "Last 7 days" by
mistake. Go to View | Current View and change it back to Messages.
