outlook xp stalls!

Using ms outlook 2003 (win xp sp2) via compaq office server 7.1 - on attempt
to send multiple attatchments outlook stalls - mail with attatchments is sent
after approx 2-3 minutes - all sortware etc reinstalled on dell gx 520 is
there any fix available for this?
 
Whay type of account are you using? Could it be uploading the files? Do you
have a virusscanner installed that does outgoing mail scanning?
