Outlook XP / IMAP / Purge messages

Hi all !

I have just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook XP.
I did that because IMAP support in Outlook 200 is terrible, so I
thought it might be a little better in Oulook XP.
Migration went perfectly, but I don't find the "purge deleted
messages" option anymore ! o_O
It is not in the "edit" menu, but the help says it should be there !
I deleted my PST file for this account, removed the account and
recreated it, but it did not help : still no option to "purge
deleted messages".

Does anyone know what's wrong ?

Do you have full menus showing? Also, did you upgrade to OL2002 (Office XP)
or OL2003 (Office 2003). I'm asking because OL2002 is a bit older than the
latest release, which is also a bit aged now.

Yes, I have full menus showing ! At least, I think so : there are
hidden options that are shown when I click on the double-arrow at
the bottom, so I believe I have everything !
This is Outlook 2002 actually.
I'm going to check officeupdate for SPs.

If you have an IMAP folder open, then the Purge item should be there.

I deleted my PST file for this account, removed the account and
recreated it, but it did not help

I'd hesitate to ever delete a PST before deleting the account. If I were in
your shoes, I'd start with a new mail profile.

I can't find an outcmd.dat file.
I have an outform.dat though.

I tried with a new "blank" profile. No change.

I also have this problem, Tools, customize, commands "tab", edit. This
should allow you to add the purge mail but it does not. Anyone know
why?

I gave up and reinstalled Outlook 2000.
The problem was stil there in 2000 (o_O), so I removed the
'Microsoft Office' folder that was left after Office's
uninstallation, I removed all "Microsoft Office" keys in the
registry (in HKCU and HKLM), and after that it went fine.

Not that this complete reinstallation made Outlook more stable
when using IMAP, so I am quite happy swith it now.
