Outlook wont' stay open

Hi. Outlook won't stay open for me. It opens, stays open for about 10
seconds, then closes. No error messages. I had this problem before and was
able to fix it with help from others online. Unfortunately I didn't save the
info (thinking it was a fluke and not a potentially ongoing problem!). I
searched here but didn't find anything helpful, and I searched google and
can't find where I got the original info. I know it has to do with the .pst
files, but I can't find any on my computer. I searched .pst, and looked in
the Outlook/office folder and didn't see any. I did try to repair and
reinstall from my CDrom, but that didn't help, either. For those who are
kind enough to answer, I'm not computer stupid, but not an expert, either, so
PLEASE, any step by steps would be awesome.

Thanks.

Let's start by getting a little more detail.
What version of Outlook are you using?
Could it be that Outlook is still open, but has been MINIMIZED and
set to HIDE when minimized? This would show as an outlook icon on
your Taskbar (usually bottom right portion of your machine).

Ok, sorry....Outlook 2000. No, it's not just minimized. There is no Outlook
left open in Task manager. It is also not set to hide when minimized.

Outlook PST files are often hidden, and unless you've unchecked 'Do not show
hidden files and folders' in Windows Explorer's 'Tools', 'Folder Options',
'View' tab, 'Advanced Settings' pane, you won't see them.
If you're searching for them, make sure you've checked the 'Search Hidden
Files and Folders' option.

Yours sincerely,
