Outlook won't remember Password

I am using Outlook 2000 and I put all my information in
(POP3, SMTP, user name and password) and then I checked
remember password. Every time Outlook tries to receive
new mail, it asks for my password. Why doesn't it
remember my password???

I had the exact same problem on my daughter's new laptop
for college. It is running XP prof and office xp prof. I
was able to fix it by making a change in the registry.

Please note that the Q Article refers to outlook express,
but it also worked for outlook 2002. Good Luck!
