Outlook won't connect to Exchange

Hello,

I was writing a message in Outlook/XP. I wanted to save the message in the
draft folder. This failed. I did not capture the error message. I ended up
starting a new message and sending it w/o problem. Then Outlook crashed with
the standard problem/do you want to restart outlook message, which I did.
From that point on, Outlook will not connect to Exchange. When starting, I
get a message which says, "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. the attempt to
log on to the Microsoft Exchange server computer failed", then outlook
closes. I can open Outlook offline.

I also have 2 errors in the Application log:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5603
Date: 2/3/2006
Time: 6:31:06 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: WXP99FFLBZ-2
Description:
A provider, OffProv10, has been registered in the WMI namespace,
Root\MSAPPS10, but did not specify the HostingModel property. This provider
will be run using the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and
the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly
impersonate user requests. Ensure that provider has been reviewed for
security behavior and update the HostingModel property of the provider
registration to an account with the least privileges possible for the
required functionality.

I tried Detect & Repair which did not resolve the problem. Finally, I
received a couple messages when trying to start Outlook saying that
"c:\program files\viewmail\TfXExt32.dll" could not be found or loaded. The
file exists in its folder.

Can anyone give me some idea on what has happened?

I'm running WinXP/SP2.

Thanks,
Rich

Rich did you ever get Office to work properly? I get the same error
message using Word.
